Wecome to The Western Colorado City League!
This soccer leage was born out of the desire to keep teams playing together in the off-season for the purpose of building team chemistry thus strengthening team unity for their regular season. We have come to learn that many players on the Western Slope don’t play soccer in the off-season because this type of venue has not existed…..UNTIL NOW!
We have developed a new soccer league called: “The Western Slope City League” which will not be affiliated with any high school or soccer club. We intend for this league to be simply coaches, players, and referees with very little “red-tape” in between. This league has three goals:
- To provide a venue with a “local grass roots atmosphere” for high school age soccer players to compete with each other during their respective off seasons (Boys-Spring/Girls-Fall).
- To improve team chemistry for high school soccer programs by providing an off season opportunity to train and compete with peers in a friendly and competitive environment.
- To stay true to the simplicity of the game and to show honor and respect amongst players, coaches, referees, and parents.
In brief, we will use the FIFA Laws of the Game as our rule book. Teams will be located in Western Colorado (west of the Continental Divide and within Colorado state borders) in either 3A, 4A or 5A, will have a minimum of one adult coach over the age of 21, and will have a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 18 players on the roster. Teams will be combined age groups 15-18 years old and will have played on the Varsity or Junior Varsity level in high school during the prior fall season.
